Our first “757project” was cleaning up The Hague in Norfolk. One of the constant items that we found littering our streets, green spaces and waterways was plastic straws. Did you know that 500 million straws are used EVERY DAY in the United States? We decided it’s time to RETHINK STRAWS and do our part to educated people on the impact straws have on the environment.

We are asking your business in Norfolk to pledge to one or all of the following:

  • Provide plastic straws to customers only upon request
  • Offer an environmental friendly alternative
  • Explain why you are supporting the RETHINK STRAWS campaign
  • Hang a poster in your business to show your support for NEWprojects757 or RETHINK STRAWS
  • Add your name to our website as a supporter of RETHINK STRAWS campaign

RETHINK STRAWS is a new 757 project to get local businesses involved in the fight to end the use of single use plastics.  500 million straws are used daily in the United States and if businesses only gave straws to customers that specifically asked for them or offered environmently friendly alternatives, it can put a real dent in this number.  But you have to do your part too. Straws suck! So give them up!  Will you?
